SnapChat has been on a steady decline and saw no profits in 2017. From daily active user decrease to CNN pulling their SnapChat feature only a couple of months later after the initial launch, SnapChat seems to be out of luck. Only two days into 2018 and news has already broke about SnapChat’s developing new concept, Stories Everywhere. This is SnapChat’s attempt to accelerate user grown and possibly more reach for advertisers.
Stories Everywhere will allow third-party publishers to embed SnapChat content onto their websites. This is especially important for companies and advertisers who see SnapChat’s value as an entry point into its young and highly engaged users, but opt for other social media advertising due to a low return on investment. Hopefully, this will sway advertisers to continue experimenting with SnapChat because they need advertisers in order to stay afloat.
This is a huge deal for SnapChat as it can bring about the possibility of being able to share Stories through other platforms like Twitter and Facebook. Stories Everywhere, if it becomes available, could be the one thing that not only saves SnapChat, but will convince companies to stick with the format.
