On February 2nd, an oversized Oreo door made a surprise appearance on the streets of NYC for the launch of the Mondelez cookie brand’s new Filled Cupcake Oreos. For the people who were lucky enough to be strolling along 18th street between 7th and 8th, they were able to try Oreo’s new flavor 6 days before hitting stores. What better way to launch their new cookie than by creating an Oreo vault that opens into a land of sugar, frosting, and cookies?
The Oreo vault mirrors a similar design and feel of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” making the experience of trying their cookie all the more magical and enticing. The brand explains that “media and fans that stop by will get the chance to personally open an Oreo shaped door and watch their box of Filled Cupcake Flavored Oreo Cookies ‘travel’ directly to their hands, traversing through a magical world of Oreo flavor.”
Here is What You Should Know About Oreo’s Wonder Vault:
- Over 50 prototype flavors and 100 ideas can be in the Wonder Vault at any time.
- It takes 12-18 months to perfect a new Oreo flavor.
- Initial prototypes are made by hand.
You may even have gotten a taste of Oreo’s brand new flavors, Cinnamon Bun and Red Velvet cake.
