Why Use Infographics for Branding?

Why Use Infographics for BrandingThey say “a picture is worth a thousand words,” and this holds true for written textual information. While a picture can quickly communicate information, it may not be the most effective way to convey highly complex information and/or data. For those situations “infographics” may be the ideal solution.

Infographics have been utilized for hundreds of years for various purposes, but have taken on a new face in the last few years, with a bit of help from the Internet. The term “Infographic” stands for “information through graphics.”  An infographic collects data, organizes it, and transforms this information into an easy to understand visual, such as a chart or map. They are particularly effective when trying to explain processes or statistics.

So, why and how can these graphs be beneficial? As noted in a Forbes article, a study “revealed that 90 percent of all information we remember was based on visual impact.” Include that tidbit with the fact that we live in an age where 1.5 billion pieces of content, 140 million tweets, and 2 million videos are created on a daily basis, and you can easily understand why a simple visual aid can make your brand stand out.

Infographics, branding, social media

Simply put, here are three terrific reasons to use infographics:

1)    Catch Your Audience’s Attention

  • Attention spans of people today are shorter than ever. An infographic is a great tool to use to draw people’s attention. The combined graphical imagery with bright colors and clear images can be eye catching and can quickly communicate your message.

2)    Increase Brand Awareness

  • Infographics go beyond “telling” people about your brand, products, and services;  they rather “show” people visually. Creating infographics using your brand’s identity, such as colors and logo, can spread awareness of your brand. And an added bonus, they can make your content go viral. If your branded infographic is being shared and circulated via the Internet and on social media networks, more people are going to start recognizing your brand.

3)    Increase Your Search Marketing Results

  • An infographic that is linked and compelling, by nature, will drive traffic to your website, as people share and click.  As people link to your site, Google will index your website higher and your site’s SEO will improve.

With the infographics making such a huge impact in the digital world, now is the time to embrace them. If you intend to get your visual and contextual point across more effectively, infographics are one of the best ways of doing so.
