LinkedIn Updates Its “Who Visited Your Profile” Feature

linkedin_slide2_copy1LinkedIn updated its handy “who’s viewed your profile” section earlier this week. The updated functionality includes personalized tips for how users can generate more profile views.

The new changes feature detailed analytics about which LinkedIn members visited your profile page. Users can now see what industries their viewers work in, and if the people that viewed their profile have the same job title.

For example, if multiple people with the title “recruiter” visit your page, LinkedIn will show you that breakdown. Previously, users could only see how often their profiles were viewed and who were some of the most recent people to check out their profile.

The new updates also offer tips for how to increase profile views. LinkedIn provides suggestions based on how members in the same industry have generated more profile views. The suggestions are simple, but targeted towards helping members increase their presence. Some of the suggestions include which skills to add to your profile and which groups to join. Also, of course, LinkedIn encourages users to add profile photos. Users with profile photos receive an average of 11 times as many profile views than users without a profile photo.

LinkedIn Premium users already received some of this information (such as which industry or company was tops among the people that viewed their profiles). The new version appears to provide more in depth information, even for the Premium users.

LinkedIn also added a block feature, which allows users to block or report other members that they don’t want to connect with.

The new version of the “who’s viewed your profile” section started rolling out to English users on Monday. More languages are set to follow.
