It is fruity, fun and affordable ever since the Great Depression.

Inventor, Edwin Perkins created Kool-Aid in downtown Hastings. Perkins concocted Kool-Aid in a brick building in 1927. This fruity, colorful drink is now 90 years old and still thriving today.

How does this brand stay popular for so long? Because they have a significant level of brand awareness. Each year the brand continues to be extremely popular, even though it is over 50 years old.

Be Cool like Kool Aid:

The reasons why Kool-Aid is so successful today, is because they go beyond the predictable attribute of just fruity flavors and bright colors. If you haven’t noticed already when walking down the beverage aisle, they have plenty of competitors nowadays. However, it is still difficult to beat Kool-Aid’s value: A single packet– priced as low as 29 cents at Kmart. This makes Kool-Aid an obvious choice for budget-conscious families.

It was a Hit During the Great Depression:

When the Great Depression hit only a year after Kool-Aid’s launch, Perkins cut the price from a dime to just a nickel making the brand into the affordable, must-have, delicious beverage that it is.

However, the most important ingredient in Kool-Aid’s lifespan is its mascot. Kool-Aid’s mascot is a smiling pitcher that was created in 1954, and by the 1970s, it morphed into a character that bursts out yelling “Oh, Yeaahh!”

Not only is this brand delicious on a hot summer day, but it also friendly and affordable for consumers. Since Kool-Aid’s increase in recognition, they have gained a strong base of loyal consumers that know they can count on them for the best product in their industry.
